Size and roof shape
The roof area is the starting point. A small lean-to has a single slope, while Edwardian, Victorian, P-shaped and gable styles have several roof faces, hips and a ridge. More facets mean more panels, more glazing bars and more edges to work around. A rough measurement or a few photographs from different angles help the quote match the real size.
Glass or polycarbonate
Glass and polycarbonate need different handling. Polycarbonate sheets scratch easily and often hold algae inside their end channels, which takes extra care to clear. Glass is tougher but may have a self-cleaning coating that limits which products can be used. Neither is better or worse for price on its own; it is the condition and detail that matter.
Older polycarbonate that has turned cloudy or brittle needs particularly gentle treatment, and cleaning will not restore clarity lost to age. If the sheets look like that, you will be told before work is agreed, so the quote reflects what cleaning can realistically achieve rather than promising a finish the roof cannot give. Glass with failed seals between panes may also show marks that sit inside the unit and cannot be reached.
Access
Access is one of the biggest factors. A conservatory with open ground on all sides can be reached easily with poles from the ground. One squeezed against a boundary fence, above decking, beside a pond, or with a steep drop next to it takes longer and may need more careful ladder work. Conservatories attached high on a house or above another flat roof are more involved again.
Condition and how long since the last clean
A roof cleaned regularly has light dirt and is quick to wash. One that has been left for years may carry thick moss on the ridge, black algae along glazing bars, leaf litter in every channel and staining on the frames. That needs more treatment time, gentle removal of growth and sometimes a second application. Shaded conservatories under trees tend to be the heaviest.
Frames, gutters and other inclusions
Many people want more than the roof panels. Cleaning the uPVC or aluminium frames, sills and doors adds time, as does washing the side glazing inside and out where requested. Clearing the conservatory gutter and flushing its downpipe is often included because the roof clean sends debris into it. A biocide treatment to slow regrowth is offered as a separate line. The conservatory cleaning service page covers the full frames and glazing clean, while the roof service focuses on the panels themselves.
Combining with other work
Conservatory roof cleaning is often booked alongside house gutter clearing, fascia and soffit cleaning or a patio clean. Doing these on the same visit is usually more efficient than separate trips.
Location
Domestic work is carried out within about fifteen miles of the Dover base. Homes further away can check their postcode first.
